Kragerø can offer a diversity of galleries and museums. Kragerø like to promote itself as an art city. It´s not without reason, it works and lives many artists here in this coastal town. And several world famous artists have connections to Kragerø.

Edvard Munch painted some of his famous works here “The Sun” and “History”, decorations for the University in Oslo, and he stayed here for a few years. Theodor Kittelsen was born in Kragerø, and worth a visit is his birthplace “Kittelsenshuset”, it can be found right in the center of Kragerø. Gallery Nicolines house is a cultural venue with large exhibitions every summer. Here you will find works by Nupen, Fronth, Gullvåg, Juell, Werp, Blom and many more in the city's prettiest alleyway. Gallery Nicolines house is also the gallery HM Queen Sonja chose to make his first solo exhibition in summer 2013.

Kragerø also have an art school idyllically located on the waterfront right near Gunnarsholmen. The Artist Quarter nearby the church is a place where you can visit many artists and galleries.

5 minutes outside of town you will find Berg - Kragerø Museum. Berg is a charming manor house in Louis XVI style from 1803. The house used to belong to the family Homann in Kragerø. The last owner, Miss "Jenia" Homann who died in 1943, donated it to Kragerø Local Authorities for use as a museum. After a thorough renovation Berg-Kragerø Museum opened in 1955.
