Stabbestad and Kjølebrønd

Stabbestad

Stabbestad is a junction on Levangsheia having regular ferry services to Kragerø. Levangheia School in Stabbestad is just a short distance away from an excellent recreational area and sandy beach. Kragerø Golf Park lies on the crest of the ridge behind Stabbestad. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country.

The Quality Spa & Resort Kragerø is located at Stabbestad. The hotel offers far more than mere accommodation, lying as does in its own 170-hectare grounds and offering guests a spa, a golf course, a beach club, a conference centre, varied hiking terrain and an extensive programme of activities.

The hotel’s architecture, interiors, furnishings and design are all striking – as is its location high on up the ridge. It overlooks Kragerø’s coastal islands with the town itself as a stunning background.

Kjølebrønd

Kjølebrønd offers excellent opportunities for hiking and outdoor life in the Ramsdalen recreational area. There is a good road all the way in to a parking area. The rivers and lakes here are marvellous for canoeing for both shorter day trips and longer overnight tours. There are suitable places for pitching tents all along the way. An idyllic canoeing trip that anyone can manage crosses Eidsvann, Leivann and Lonene. This tour can easily be extended to cover more of the Kjølebrønd waterway by going over Eidsvann – Leivann – Skarvann – Hansjø and Mørlandstjenna. This last tour involves some portaging, and arrangements for return transportation must be made ahead of time.

The local Hiking Association has excellent maps available for use in planning these and other tours and hikes.
