It is easy to get to and from Kragerø either by public transportation or by your own car

If you take your own car, you can exit the E18 by either Gjerdemyra or at Tangen in Sannidal. The new main road has made the last kilometers a smooth and comfortable drive.
Express buses that also correspond with routes from Western Norway, coming from either Oslo or Sørlandet, stops at Tangen in Sannidal. From here, you can take the local buses  to Kragerø. For schedules see:

 
You can also take a train to Neslandsvatn, where there are bus-connections via Tangen and further to Kragerø.

Getting here - by ferry

The ferry terminals in Kristiansand and Larvik are located only 1,5 hours drive from Kragerø. The shortest distance though, with a drive of approximately only 30min from Kragerø, is the Fjordline ferry Langesund. Fjordline has daily ferry arrivals between Hirtshals in Denmark and Langesund.
Color Line has daily routes between Hirtshals and Larvik in Vestfold and between Strømstad in Sweden and Sandefjord, Vestfold.

Getting here - by plane

Via airports in Kristiansand (Kjevik), Sandefjord (Torp), Skien (Geiteryggen) Moss (Rygge) and Oslo (Gardermoen) you can get to Kragerø by rental car; or perhaps even better: You can bring your bike on the plane and get a great ride along the coast to Kragerø. The nearest airport is Torp airport in Sandefjord located approx. 1,5 hours by car from Kragerø.

Transportation in Kragerø

If you come by bike, follow the signposts until you reach the city. Pedestrian and cycle paths are prioritized in recent years, and the last leg from Sannidal to Kragerø city has been a real pleasure for all who choose two-wheeler as transportation.

In Kragerø archipelago there are 3 car/passenger ferries and one speed boat between the main islands, "M/F Kragerø", "B/F Jesper", "B/F Naus" and the speed boat "Perlen. The pride of Kragerø is the "M/F Kragerø", the newest ferry, which offers from the lounge  an amazing view of the beautiful archipelago through all seasons.

Taxi boats carry passengers to and from cabins throughout the archipelago. You can call directly to the boats for booking to Bjorn taxi boat & hytteservice at phonenumber +47 40 60 40 00. When not out on missions, the taxi-boats are docked at the  taxibåtbrygga, near the ferry port.

The local buses

The public transportation by buses in the Kragerø Municipality is operated by Drangedal Bilruter AS. They also have routes from Kragerø Western Bamble and collaborates with Konkurrenten.no/Nettbuss Express running between Oslo - Kristiansand/Kristiansand - Oslo, via Tangen in the Kragerø Municipality.
